Many changes occurred during the summer that will provide you with a better preparation for your college years and a well-rounded education for life.
As your teacher, I am proud to provide you with an outstanding and exciting Vision Care Assisting Program for the 2016-2017 school year. Lesson plans were updated to infuse higher critical thinking skills in preparation for college. Additional lessons were incorporated for review in preparation for the NEW Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) industry exam.
OBJECTIVE: The student will demonstrate mastery of major areas covered in Vision Care Assisting 3 Honors.
ACTIVITIES: 8/25/16-9/8/16
Review Syllabus & rules, as a class. Quiz on the syllabus information will be given next class.
Discuss Senior information from the CAP counselor
Introduce the class website
Confirm the Capstone topic selected last year and update the portfolio.
Select HOSA officers and competitive event (See below).

Review on all handouts given last year. Areas that you will be tested on are as follows.
1. Refractive errors
2. Ophthalmic abbreviations & symbols
3. Interpretation of Rx
4. Transposition
5. Lens materials
6. Multifocal lens designs
7. Solving for contact lens equivalent
HOMELEARNING: Create or revise the Career Description Paper as your final copy, you will be submitting this paper to me in about 2 weeks, and to your English teacher very soon.
BEGIN DOWNLOADING YOUR COMPETITIVE EVENT GUIDELINES. SHOW INITIATIVE, DON'T WAIT FOR ME. START SAVING FOR HOSA DUES, IN SEVERAL COMPETITIVE EVENTS THE SLOTS ARE LIMITED. DUES WILL ONLY BE COLLECTED SEPT. 27 & 28, NO MAKE-UP DAYS!!! This is your senior year make your college applications STRONG.
